Population
The population in Singapore currently stands at 4.84 million (3.64 million – Singapore residents) and consists of Chinese (77%), Malays (14%), Indians (8%) and Others (1%). The four official languages in Singapore are Malay, Chinese (Mandarin), Tamil and English. Malay is the national language while English is the medium language of administration and business. Singapore’s literacy rate is among the highest in Asia with a general literacy rate of approximately 92%.
