Immigration Requirements
Foreign nationals intending to enter Singapore to take up employment or to engage in business must obtain relevant pass from Ministry of Manpower.
The Singapore government has adopted the policy of encouraging skilled and well-qualified foreigners who can contribute to the country’s economy to join the workforce in Singapore. Another permanent residence scheme exists where foreigners with entrepreneurial ability and substantial financial resources may invest in Singapore under Deposit Scheme administered by the Singapore Economic Development Board.
Employment Pass (EP) / Work Permit Foreign professionals and executives who wish to work in Singapore may apply for an Employment Pass (EP). The EP is for foreigners who: - Earn a fixed monthly salary of more than $2,500; and - Have recognised qualifications. The other category of foreign workers who earn below S$2,500 a month are required to apply for S Pass or Work Permit.
Short-Term Employment Pass (STEP) The Short-Term Employment Pass (STEP) is for foreigners who wish to work in Singapore on a specific project or assignment up to a maximum period of one month. STEP will be issued on a one-time and strictly non-renewal basis.
